This update focuses on making “Thinking” easier to follow and more consistent, especially when tools like web search are involved. It also fixes a few persistence and tracking issues that could show up during or after a search.
Cleaner “Thinking” experience
The interface now uses a single, unified “Thinking” view for any reasoning and tool activity. This keeps the experience consistent and avoids switching between different formats.
The previous Chain of Thought toggle has been removed, and the UI label has been updated from “Chain of thought” to “Thinking” so it’s clearer what you’re looking at.
Web search behavior and persistence fixes
Search tool steps now stay expanded when they complete, which makes it easier to review what happened without re-opening sections manually.
Search usage is now counted correctly by detecting the tool-webSearch type, and search result links now use the updated UTM source osschat.dev.
To help chats reload more reliably, messages can now store reasoning and tool activity in a unified chainOfThoughtParts format that preserves the original stream order.
